Her father had lung cancer and for 2 years they had to borrow much money to keep him in the hospital. In the winter of 2004 her father died. Her mother took her little son with her and left them. Grandma looked kind of sick. The house was kept clean and her grandpa worked in a quarry, every month he made about 100-150 Yuan and sometimes even could not get his pay. The school didn't free any of the fees.
Li Ke is very happy in the home and has quickly made close friends with Gu Si yuan who is her same age. When she came to us she was somewhat self-centered and naughty but we knew that in time she would change. She came out of a very confused and unwanted situation. Today Li ke is very charming and successful. She is the monitor in her class. Her teacher in school considers her as a very good helper for the teachers.
