This precious child, Cong kai, had
both his parents die from fumes from heating their home on April
26, 2000. His grandpa died around 1997 or 1998. After Cong kai's
parents died his grandma took care of him until 2008 when she was
diagnosed to have lung cancer and died soon after. It was after
her death that Cong kai came to live with us. What a blessing for
us! He is gentle and kind, studious and lovely in all his ways.
He is a great friend to both Du Xing ze and Zhou ping. |

Hypocrisy
and Deception
Hypocrisy and Deception
was the lesson to be learned from the movie, Oliver Twist. Our
world is full of both and the children need to learn how to recognize
them in themselves as well as others and the importance of overcoming.
After a brief lesson directing their attention to watch for
|
|
these phenomena in
the film - everyone intently watched and read the dialogue since
we didn't have a copy in Chinese. After the film the children
met in their individual homes and discussed a list of questions
regarding the film. Finally they selected someone to write a summary
or report over what the members of their home had said. The following
week one report was selected as the best and all the children
received Dove Chocolate candy bars.

The children
in House three had received a beautiful vase for winning first place
in the Easter basket contest. Then they were to do some memory work
for which each child was given a lovely artificial flower. They
were |
|
thrilled. Drawing
numbers, they each selected one flower and put their own name
on it. Individually their flowers were lovely but when put together
in the vase it was outstanding. This is just like the children
themselves - individually each one is so special and so precious
but collectively they are great support and love to each other
and are even more beautiful!
