FAMILY BACKGROUND:

At the time of entering the home -

Wei Jin ke has a sister Wei Jin ge, age 3 who also lives in our home.
Their father's name is Wei Jian zhong, born on 1969-12-11. Their mother died of leukaemia in 2007. When we visited them in the countryside, these two girls' father was obviously very sick The neighbors and village leader didn't believe he could live very long. The village offered him a room to live in but he couldn't pay any rent, so he was told that he could just live in it and whenever he could come up with the money he could pay the village back in the future. It is doubtly he will ever be able to pay back the village. They also offered him temporary jobs like concrete work or carpentry work. He once was poisoned by gas when he was working in a coalmine and had been hit by cars on two occassions.

He has lost his parents in his childhood so there was no one to watch the girls. The 11 year old girl told us at school that she knew her father was very sick and she knew he was taking medicine. The village leader started to cry when she saw how desperate the girls were and how sad the situation was.

Jin ke is a clever young lady who spontaneously sees opportunities to help and does so graciously. She is a quiet girl and loves to read.
