ACADEMIC STATUS:

Wang Cai yun lived in a very distant countryside village with very poor schooling. Her work was below average and her school taught no English so she was three years behind in this when she came to our home in 2004. For these reasons we put her in Grade 4 so she had a chance to catch up in her studies.

As of Fall of 2009 she is studying in Grade 3 in a special Middle School. She is very excellent in all her subjects and is one of the top students in her school.

Family Background:

When she was about 5 months old her father was killed in a mining accident following which her mother permanently deserted her husband's family and Wang Cai yun. This little girl lived in a very dark and very dirty house with her old grandfather and an uncle in a desolate and very distant village.

She had two aunts each with their own families so they were unable to be of help and an uncle born in 1958 who had epilepsy who could not get a wife. Her grandfather was born in 1934 and her grandmother had already died. The little girl lived alone with the two men. They had no supplies and were very poor. The entire village was very impoverished so the school fees could not be waived.

PERSONALITY:

Cai yun is a quiet remarkable young lady. She is an excellent student and she always remains as a top student. She enjoys being with the other girls. She doesn't play actively much but enjoys reading and studying. She is always a great helper for the other children and the mothers. She is also very active in her school activities, often being a leader. When she first came to our home she had really terrible teeth that almost disfigured her natural beauty but thanks to the help of friends she now has a lovely beautiful smile. Everything about Cai yun is gentle and charming - we are so proud of her and so happy she is part of our family.
