PARENTAL HISTORY:

No knowledge of real parents. A transient worker from Shaanxi brought the child as an infant into the village. No one knew where he had gotten the child but he raised him and told him he had a father who sold vegetables in Zhengzhou. The villagers all denied such a person existed. The old man had a bad reputation as a bricklayer who lived among rough, dirty, drinking men. He was at the time we met Liu over 60 years old and crippled.

Liu had no warm clothes when we met him in December. He was wearing a thin cotton shirt and open toed plastic slippers. His teacher said he studied hard and made good scores. The school leader hoped we would be able to help this little boy.

PERSONALITY AND BEHAVIOR:

Liu is a quiet boy with a loving heart. He once said when he grew up he wanted to open a home like SANCS for other homeless children. Although he is a shy boy he has a very good sense of humor and the other children love him much. He is honest, reliable and charitable in serving the entire household - their mothers and all the children.
