FAMILY
BACKGROUND:
At the time of entering the home:
When the boy's father was about 53
years old, he met a woman and was unable to legally marry her. The
woman came from Guizhou and didn't have legal ID so the local police
station couldn't give them a legal marriage permission. She gave
birth to this little boy in 2003. His father gave this little boy
to his sister to raise a few months after his birth. In 2006 his
illegal wife was pregnant again and after she gave birth to a second
child. His mother then had a stroke and became paralyzed. His father
isn't of good health, he has a heart problem, high blood pressure
and arthritis. He got his son back from his brother when the boy
was about 5 years old and put him in preschool for a short period
of time. For many years they couldn't register either of his two
boys' ID since he didn't have a legal marriage with his wife. The
local police officer helped them and put both of these two boys'
ID under their uncle's ID book. Their uncle helped take care of
both of these two boys since their father was sick and meanwhile
he had to take care of his paralyzed wife. The village leader kept
saying that this family was the poorest of the poorest families.
Every level of government tried to offer some help. His father collects
trash for some income but they remain extremely desperately poor.
